The Shape of the Universe… |
“Is the earth round or flat?” That was the profound question put forth by the science community versus the neo-science cults centuries ago… Once again, in this new millennium, a similar question has arisen from the science community versus the string-theory cults: “Is the universe round or flat?” |

Bolstering this flat universe string-theology are some of the world’s greatest mathematicians, using page after page of their greatest formulations to prove that the universe is an infinite rectangular membrane or, as they prefer to call it, a flat “brane” – the noveau-word of the day – with its size always maintaining a multiple of an 8.5”x11” page proportion. There are three slight problems with their bold, new concept: 1.) String theory requires many more dimensions than the standard four that we all know and love. Sounding much like a sci-fi movie made for tv, there must be eleven unviewable, unprovable dimensions to make their flat universe function. And, if we accept their theoryology, then we will also receive an infinite number of other universes – a multitude of mind-altering riches: Doppelganger universes where we can all live in endless alternate lifestyles – much like what Rod Serling use to offer on his Twilight Zone except minus the solid plot. 2.) The string theory flat universe big bang would have been a singularity that was also everywhere at the same moment since the cosmic ray background residual from the big bang is detected throughout all of the universe. The “singularity” and the “everywhere” concepts create a paradox that can only be explained through the use of voodoo math and conjured-up rectangular branes of infinite size. 3.) String theory relies on both the infinitely large and the infinitely small; neither of which exist in the tangible universe. Infinity is a mathematical term that can never cross over to reality. It accurately defines numbers – but those numbers can never be linked to an infinite number of real objects, be they as small and numerous as photons or electrons. This is not the first time in history that so many bright minds have religiously followed the wrong path: The Ptolemaic universe governed scientific thought for over 17 centuries. Throughout the Middle Ages and into the early Renaissance, up to the time of Copernicus (1539) the great thinkers of the western world believed in the Ptolemaic theory, which had been advocated by Aristotle and refined by the second-century astronomer Ptolemy (150 A.D.), which stated that the universe was a closed space bounded by a spherical envelope beyond which there was nothing. The Ptolemaic universe was based on a geocentric model: the belief that the earth was at the very center of the universe. The earth was surrounded by a series of nine concentric spheres, each of which was associated with their noted celestial motions. As celestial changes were noted in the heavens’ movements, brilliant mathematicians would be brought in to rework the Ptolemaic universe so that it could once again be followed by its unwavering believers. In the Ptolemaic system, the planets moved in a small circle, called an epicycle, which in turn moves along a larger circle called a deferent. Both circles rotated counterclockwise and were roughly parallel to the earth's plane of orbit. The bizarre orbits of the planets, in some cases, epicycles were themselves placed on epicycles, were called the epitrochoids. For 17 centuries the mathematicians, at the behest of the religious leaders, aided in the perpetuation of this falsehood. Now following in their footsteps are the string theoryologists. When mankind’s reasoning and rational haven’t advanced to such a state as to where it can understand and explain what it perceives in the universe about us, then it is time to bring in the theological speculators: the mathematicians. After all weren’t they the ones who, through the use of their numerous constants, variables and epicycles, were able to keep the earth at the very center of all of creation? Why the Universe is a Sphere… The shape of the universe is determined by the eternal struggle between the momentum of the expansion caused by the big bang and the ceaseless pull of universal gravity. The following are three proofs that the universe is a sphere. 1.) The amount of matter – the density of the universe also determines its shape. If the density of the universe exceeds the critical density, then the geometry of space is closed and positively curved like the surface of a sphere. Recent observations of distant supernova have suggested, at first glance, that the expansion of the universe is actually accelerating. If the expansion of the universe is speeding up, this implies the existence of a bizarre form of negative energy which is referred to as “dark energy”. This newly created force of nature also brings back the need for the cosmological constant – which Einstein said was his “greatest mistake” when he was trying to modify his theories of relativity. The purpose of the new cosmological constant is to force-fix the string theories so that they will align properly with general observations – similar to the Ptolemaic universe and its geocentric model. If the universe were flat, as the string theorists would have you believe, with their never-ending forced math constants, then space would lose its definition and have the look of thin lumpy oatmeal. The actual cause of the elusive “dark energy” will be further expounded upon in a following chapter. 2.) Since it was launched in 2001, the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) has been taking the temperature of the universe. The probe measures the way the temperature of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) varies across the universe. In the animated globe of the universe (right) the warmer (red) patches correspond to denser regions, and the cooler (blue) patches correspond to less dense regions of space.
In April of 2005, as reported in the New Scientist, cosmologists have discovered a strange alignment in the cosmic microwave background pictures from WMAP. Initially, the regions of hot and cold areas appeared random, but upon further examination they found what appears to be a "preferred direction" – an axis upon which our universe rotates. This new alignment discovery rules out both the string theorists' flat universe and the standard model of cosmology, since only a spherical shape would be rotating on an axis. 3.) On earth the shape and direction of hurricanes are determined by the Coriolis force. If you live in the northern hemisphere, hurricanes will turn counterclockwise. If you live in the southern hemisphere, hurricanes will turn clockwise. At the equator hurricanes cannot exist – only formless storm clouds will form. All of these motions are controlled by the Coriolis force.
Even though it is called the Coriolis ‘force’ in reality it is an ‘effect’ of the rotation of a sphere – and the position (longitude/latitude) of the atmospheric (or celestial) turbulence. The Coriolis force can be seen throughout our local galaxies and throughout the visible universe. While all galaxies aren’t spiral formations neither are all earthly storm clouds. Besides their original positioning on the sphere of the universe, the shapes of the galaxies are determined by many varying circumstances over billions of years – such as galactic collisions, passing black holes, supernovae, etc. |
